We're excited to announce that 2012 GIVE Awards Recipient Marshall Ramsey will be returning as our 2018 GIVE Awards Emcee. Ramsey is a two-time Pulitzer finalist, known for his award-winning cartoons, entertaining radio program, and engaging short stories. He is also the host of "Now You're Talking with Marshall Ramsey" on Mississippi Public Broadcasting. We will host the GIVE Awards on April 16, 2018 so be sure to save the date!

The first visit was to @senthadcochran, where we met with Lindsay Linhares, a longtime friend to #nationalservice in Mississippi, and Harrison Cajdan. #stateservice
On Thursday, February 8, the Volunteer Mississippi Board, staff, and friends celebrated the retirement of Commissioner Roktabija “Abdul”-Azeez. Commissioner Azeez was a founding member of the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service and has held a seat on the Commission throughout the duration of the agency’s history. He’s given his entire career to service, also serving as the State Director for @nationalservice in Mississippi, and with ACTION, the predecessor to the Corporation. We’ve been lucky to have Commissioner Azeez on our Board and as a great friend to #nationalservice, and we wish him well in his retirement! #nationalservice

On this Valentine's Day, we celebrate our #AmeriCorpsAlums​! All across Mississippi, our alums continue to do the work that they started years ago in their@NationalService​ programs. One amazing story comes from Franklin County, MS. #AmericaReads Mississippi (ARM), a statewide literacy tutoring program that operates from the MS Institutions of Higher Learning, is a starting point for academic support for the youngest of Mississippians charting their course to future educational pursuits. The Franklin County School District has partnered with ARM since 2000. 129 ARM AmeriCorps members have served 1,378 students during this time. Many former ARM members continue to work with the Franklin County School District as a result of this strong partnership.
