Nordic curls and Bulletproof Hammies for Gaelic Football 😀🏐🏐 With Hamstring strain/pulls and injuries being the most frequent area injured in Gaelic Football due to kicking, maximal sprinting and sudden accelerations/decelerations, coaches and players should make sure they are using risk strategies to reduce the burden of hamstring injuries. Nordic Curls being one of the most researched exercises could help reduce Hamstring injuries for many Gaelic Footballers. Often seen being used by many S&C coaches, we believe this exercise should be implemented more into Gaelic Footballers programmes, something we implement in our own “Ultimate GAA Performance Programme”. Due to the emphasis put on the eccentric movement this will help strengthen and improve the lengthening/tension relationship of the hamstring. Training the hamstrings in this manner would help Gaelic Footballers absorb force when decelerating during sprinting and landing from a jump, also could help protect the hamstring during kicking the ball. This exercise can also be used to strengthen the hamstrings in the later stages of rehab. Also with the injury prevention and strengthening benefits it’s an exercise which could sky rocket a Gaelic Footballers Athletic Performance. Sprint Positions 🏃🏻‍♂️💥 To sprint as fast you possibly can, there are certain positions and angles that must be achieved during the acceleration. As see above: -shin angles matching -opposing thigh & upper arm angles matching -straight line from head to heel You may have high strength/power levels but without achieving these positions you won’t be able to transfer that strength/power into the ground to accelerate as fast what is possible!

[Eccentric Hooks - Bench Press - Fat Bar] We use this method to overload the nervous system, as one is anywhere from 20% - 60% stronger eccentrically depending on training age. So we overload the eccentric portion of the lift with 20%+ on the hooks. Lower the load for 4 - 6 seconds then rip out 1 - 3 reps once the hooks with the weight has drop off.
