TRANSFORMATION FOR YOUR MONDAY GUYS! On the left I was at the heaviest I’ve been in my life. I had stopped taking care of myself and just forgot about my nutrition and health as a priority. I felt very uninterested because I had found out I had re-tore my knee and knew I would have to get another surgery. I stopped lifting and doing the things I loved because I felt like there was “no point” because I would just have to start all over again. I was not a happy Hailey nor was I a healthy one. I decided that it was time to stop feeling sorry for myself and to control the things I could. I said you know what, I may not be able to lift and enjoy the things I want to but I ALWAYS HAVE CONTROL over what I FUEL MY BODY WITH. I wanted to do this to get back to being Healthy Me again. NOT for anyone else and not to fit in some weight category. There is 12 lbs difference between these photos and I’m sitting near where I feel healthy at. I could careless about the number on the scale but there is a range where you feel comfortable and I’m happy where I’m at ☺️ this was over 3 months guys, i worked out at most 2-3 times a week) remind you I was immobilized the majority of the time) it’s a slow process guys! Be patient, invest in yourself and choose to make healthier decisions to better yourself and your health! Consistency pays off! Exercise and proper nutrition are a priority in my life, non-negotiables. I never ask myself whether I will do it. It’s kind of like brushing my teeth....I don’t wake up and ask if I’m going to do it today, I just do!! While trying on clothes at the store today I realized how making those things non negotiable truly pays off. I wanted to see how the dress looked from behind and when I saw the definition in my back I was actually a little surprised. But I really shouldn’t have been! I’m consistent in my health and fitness. What I love most about this SHAKE is how good it tastes! 😋 I usually pack my shakes with frozen fruit and oatmeal, sometimes peanut butter too. Self-improvement what #fitness is all about. Don’t worry about how much the next person is benching, squating or whatever. For example, I am in there w/my #training plan on mind and that’s it. I’ll see guys curling a 70lbs DB for 1 or 2 reps w/gnarly form and act like they’re the man. Meanwhile they’re fucking up that elbow, bicep, etc. As I get deeper in my #armday i have to stagger my weights due to my left arm being weaker than my right. But I still ensure I hit the number of reps I have set for myself. Unlike the BROS. 4 KEYS PAIN FREE MOVEMENT - Avoid Relative Flexibility RF is your body wanting to take the path of least resistance. Most times this means not using proper form and/or reinforcing bad movement patterns. Both of these can lead to pain all over your body. Really focus on good technique in whatever movement you’re doing AND… AND… finish all your reps, don’t “ease into” the exercise or quit a rep or two early. - Increase Mobility This is is huge. If you don’t have a foam roller, get one. In the morning to get your muscles primed for the day and “wake them up” and in the evening to realign the muscle fibers that may have gotten a little twisted. Just a few minutes on areas that you’re feeling particularly tight or “twingy”. In terms of training ALWAYS foam roll BEFORE you exercise and do a dynamic warm-up. The dynamic WU can consist of things like inchworm walkouts and t-rotation push-ups. Here you only hold the stretch for 2-3 seconds and repeat 5-10x. This loosens the muscles and increases blood flow. Static stretch after your workout when your muscles are “warm”. Take some deep breaths, reach for your toes to stretch your back and hamstrings. Lean into a low impact lunge to stretch the hip flexors and quads. Breathing into your stretches will help to relax the muscle fibers and get a deeper stretch.
- Correct Imbalances We all have imbalances in our body, some being more extreme than others but they’re still there and they can cause pain or injury. The best way to fix them is to make sure you’re doing unilateral (single limb) work every week. Single arm chest press or row and single leg deadlifts or splits squats are great ones to add in. - Dynamic Range of Motion There are three planes of motion that we humans move in; sagittal (walking, running, cycling), frontal (sides steps) and transverse (twisting). During your workouts try to work in these planes to get those muscles firing and active. Day 22/100 As wild as it sounds, that teal backpack is what helped me shed over 40 pounds & I stopped losing weight when I stopped wearing it. I’ve got about 20 pounds left to shed so guess what? The backpack is back! #shortstory . When I first started wearing that backpack to the gym, I was goal oriented, disciplined & consistent with my workouts & nutrition. . After a few months, I traded that backpack for the Louis Vuitton (LV) never-full bag. Then I started wearing mascara & lipstick to the gym. Then I started putting my computer in my LV bag and taking that to the gym. Later on I started wearing 2 of my fancy schmancy rings along with my Tory Burch bracelet & if that wasn’t enough, I had the biggest fit when my phone kept dying because of the battery. I thought there was something wrong with my iPhone so I bought an extra charger & always carried it around. . I recently started going to a different gym & because it’s been raining so much, I decided to wear my teal backpack. After a few days of going there, I noticed that when I would leave the gym, my phone still had a close to full charge. I also noticed that the only piece of jewelry I’m wearing now is my Apple Watch & I no longer bring my computer to the gym. The entire time I’m there, I’m working out. I stopped being on my phone. Stopped being on my computer. Stopped socializing like a social butterfly with others. I’m back to being goal oriented. And the results I’m seeing due to it are MASSIVE!!! . Turns out there was nothing wrong with my iPhone. There was something wrong with ME! I stopped focusing on what was important to me. . I’m just grateful to have connected the dots & this backpack was what helped me. To me, it symbolizes simplicity & at the moment it’s exactly what I need. No more distractions. No more shiny objects.
It is definitely a holiday today because I could feel it and had to modify some of my exercises!! Isn’t there a saying that says “your body won’t go where the mind doesn’t tell it”?! I worked on and off at bball today. About 20:80 ☹️. Pretty sure fixing that is more of a mind game than anything else. The duration of the session is more than my body is prepared for right about now. But I only really realise afterwards when I get home and my joints start creaking. However, I wanted to get something in on top of the sweat. So I hit the bars for a cheeky quickie on my way home. Just some #PullUps . But that seconds set... The 2 #reps I did were #MaximumEffort from me! Up and #hold for... I dunno... Maybe 10 seconds? Well I'm proud of myself because I know when I'm putting in max effort. It doesn't happen often enough. CLIENT SPOTLIGHT!!! • Looking to burst your pipes? This kettlebell bicep curl variation should do the trick! • This is a simple set up. Thread your battle rope through the handle of a kettlebell, take an athletic stance, tighten your core, and curl. Make sure you pause on the full contraction like you you see @gabriellasuglia doing in the video. Trying to #BeConsistent after that long break. I'm tempted to up the ante a bit but won't because of lingering #injuries , which are #healing well... Just not quite there yet. I still can't really do any kind of pushing action with my right arm. My old #balance . Was not acceptable, so I'm pushing for some New Balance. A #yoga video I saw last week reminded me that my version of the crow is a beginners first progression step. In the actual Crow position the knees are much higher up, anchored on the triceps rather than the knees, and the arms are fully extended, virtually locked out, making your crow a lot taller, and tidier. I started off trying this, but I got #nervous up on those #bars and slipped back into the #beginner 's version. I think I'd better #practice on the floor first. . #StaticPullUpHold #Crow #ChinUps A very #unstable #transition from #CrowToLSit . Trying something new usually brings about apprehension, uncertainty and for me here, a bit of fear too. God knows how I braved crow to untidy handstand in the snow (TWFNM 041). I thought about it while I was up there today and decided it wasn't going to happen. The system I'm testing at work for processing #HeavyLoad has a rule; if any part o the system is down, do not attempt to process. Recover the system to full capacity before attempting to process heavy load. Makes sense. So I'm applying that ethos here until my neck and elbow are back to normal. Once in the LSit position I realised I still had some hold left in my arms so I went ahead and threw in some #LegRaises too. . ° #TWFNM 87
